How votes are grouped
A member's page says what their votes add up to, subject by subject. Which subject a measure belongs to is this site's reading. Here is every measure in every subject, so the reading can be checked against the thing it was read from.
What is counted
How each member voted on measures that reached a final vote, grouped by subject. Final-passage questions only: on a motion to recommit a no supports the bill and on passage a yes does, so counting both together reads one position as two.
A measure is put in a subject by keywords in its own title. The grouping is this site's reading, not the clerk's, so every measure in every subject is listed here to be checked. A member needs four votes in a subject to appear in it.
What is not
Cloture, nominations, amendments, motions to proceed, recommit and table. The Senate takes 54 final-passage votes this Congress against the House's 391, so a senator's record here is thin.
