The personnel office must verify life events and family members
What the document says“the Director shall issue regulations and implement a process to verify--”
The section may be cited as the FEHB Protection Act of 2025 and requires the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, within one year of enactment, to issue regulations and set up a process to verify the truth of any qualifying life event used to add a family member and that anyone added is a qualifying member of family, including during an open season. It defines Director, health benefits plan, member of family, open season, Program and qualifying life event by reference to title 5 and the regulations.
What the document actually says“the Director shall issue regulations and implement a process to verify--”
The Director must write rules and set up a check. The two things that follow say what is checked.
One is whether a life event really happened. One is whether the person added really counts as family. The rules are due within a year.
