What the document says

“Any service fee associated with internet connection shall not be used in computing the excess shelter expense deduction under this paragraph.”

To provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of H. Con. Res. 14, Sec. 10104

The section adds a new subparagraph (E) at the end of section 5(e)(6) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2014(e)(6)) providing that any service fee associated with an internet connection shall not be used in computing the excess shelter expense deduction under that paragraph.

What the document actually says

“Any service fee associated with internet connection shall not be used in computing the excess shelter expense deduction under this paragraph.”

To provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of H. Con. Res. 14, Sec. 10104
That sentence, in plain words

A fee for an internet link may not be counted. It is left out of the shelter cost sum.

What this is about

The shelter deduction lowers what a home is counted as earning. A lower count can mean more food aid. Internet fees no longer go into it.

No action is recorded against this proposal. That is not evidence that none has been taken, and nobody has yet read it against the record. See what the tracker does not yet cover.

What This Page Covers, and What It Leaves Out

The one thing the section does: bar an internet service fee from the excess shelter expense deduction.

Nothing in the section is left out. It contains only this one amendment.

The section works by adding a subparagraph to section 5(e)(6) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, which is not indexed here, so how the deduction is otherwise computed cannot be checked against anything on this site.
