What the document says

“Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as the ``Secretary''), acting through the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, shall conduct a review of State use of funds made available under the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant program”

To reauthorize certain programs that provide for opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery, and for other purposes, Sec. 208

The section directs the Secretary, acting through the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, to review within one year of enactment how States use block grant funds for first episode psychosis activities. The review must consider how States use funds for evidence-based treatments, the share of State block grant funding spent on early serious mental illness and first episode psychosis, and the number of people served.

What the document actually says

“Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as the ``Secretary''), acting through the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, shall conduct a review of State use of funds made available under the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant program”

To reauthorize certain programs that provide for opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery, and for other purposes, Sec. 208
That sentence, in plain words

The Secretary must look at how States spend this money. The review is due within one year. It covers care after a first break with reality.

What this is about

A block grant is money sent to a State in one lump. The State decides much of how it is spent. This review asks what the States chose.

How to Read This Page

The quotation is the document's own words, exactly as printed, and we check the page number against the Act itself before publishing. The paragraph underneath is our summary, not the document's words. So is the plain English version, which is why it sits beside the quotation rather than replacing it.
