Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks Act › Section 1

Short Title

Section 1 · Sec. 1 ·

What this chapter is about

This part gives the law its short name. It gives two names, a long one and a short one. It sets no rules for anyone.

1 proposal indexed from this chapter.

The document says “may be cited asWho acts: CongressHow: statuteSec. 1 in the PDF
What the document says

“This Act may be cited as the ``Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks Act'' or the ``TAKE IT DOWN Act''.”

To require covered platforms to remove nonconsensual intimate visual depictions, and for other purposes, Sec. 1

Section 1 gives the Act two citation names, the long form and the short form, and the short form is an acronym of the long one. The section does nothing further.

What the document actually says

“This Act may be cited as the ``Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks Act'' or the ``TAKE IT DOWN Act''.”

To require covered platforms to remove nonconsensual intimate visual depictions, and for other purposes, Sec. 1
That sentence, in plain words

This law has a long name. It can also go by the short name TAKE IT DOWN Act.

What this is about

The short name is built from the first letters of the long one. A name is just a handle. It does not tell anyone what to do.

No action is recorded against this proposal. That is not evidence that none has been taken, and nobody has yet read it against the record. See what the tracker does not yet cover.

What This Page Covers, and What It Leaves Out

The one thing the section does: it names the Act, twice.

Nothing else is in the section.

A short title creates no duty and changes no other law. What the Act does is in the sections that follow.
