Trafficking Survivors Relief Act › Section 7

Technical and Conforming Amendments

Section 7 · Sec. 7 ·

What this chapter is about

This part changes two numbers in an older law. Each number points to a part of that law. The pointers are made to point somewhere new.

1 proposal indexed from this chapter.

The document says “is amendedWho acts: CongressHow: statuteSec. 7 in the PDF
What the document says

“Section 103 of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (22 U.S.C. 7102) is amended-- (1) in paragraph (16), by striking ``(9)'' and inserting ``(11)''; and (2) in paragraph (17), by striking ``(9) or (10)'' and inserting ``(11) or (12)''.”

To provide for the vacating of certain convictions and expungement of certain arrests of victims of human trafficking, Sec. 7

The section makes two changes to section 103 of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000. In paragraph (16), "(9)" is struck and "(11)" inserted. In paragraph (17), "(9) or (10)" is struck and "(11) or (12)" inserted. Both are numbers pointing to other paragraphs of the same section. That statute is not indexed here, so nothing is recorded about what the old or the new numbers point to.

What the document actually says

“Section 103 of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (22 U.S.C. 7102) is amended-- (1) in paragraph (16), by striking ``(9)'' and inserting ``(11)''; and (2) in paragraph (17), by striking ``(9) or (10)'' and inserting ``(11) or (12)''.”

To provide for the vacating of certain convictions and expungement of certain arrests of victims of human trafficking, Sec. 7
That sentence, in plain words

One number in an older law changes from 9 to 11. Another changes from 9 or 10 to 11 or 12.

What this is about

The older law is from the year 2000. Numbers like these point to other parts of a law. This site does not index that law, so it does not say what those parts hold.

No action is recorded against this proposal. That is not evidence that none has been taken, and nobody has yet read it against the record. See what the tracker does not yet cover.

What This Page Covers, and What It Leaves Out

The one amendment the section makes, and the two paragraphs of the older statute it reaches.

Nothing. The section runs to two clauses and both are recorded.

The section amends section 103 of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, codified at 22 U.S.C. 7102. That statute is not indexed here, so nothing is recorded about what its paragraphs (16) and (17) say, or about what the numbers being struck and inserted refer to. A reader following the citation will find the older wording until this amendment is applied.
