“The amendments to the guidelines promulgated under subsection (a) shall take effect 180 days after the date of promulgation by the Commission, except to the extent that the effective date is revised or the amendment is otherwise modified or disapproved by an Act of Congress”
Subsection (b) of section 5017 provides that the amendments take effect 180 days after the Commission issues them, unless an Act of Congress revises the effective date or modifies or disapproves the amendment. It also provides that they supersede any contrary amendment in the guideline amendments submitted to Congress on or about May 1, 2026.
