The section requires the Comptroller General to study and report to Congress within a year on how many residential dwelling units, and how many public housing units, sit less than a mile from a site on the National Priorities List established under section 105 of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980.

What the document actually says

“a report that identifies how many residential dwelling units, and how many dwelling units that are a part of public housing (as defined in section 3(b) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1437a(b))), are located less than 1 mile from a site that is included on the National Priorities List”

To increase the supply of housing in America, and for other purposes, Sec. 804
That sentence, in plain words

The report must count homes near a listed site. It must count public housing units too. The line is less than one mile away.

What this is about

The list names the worst polluted sites in the country. Many people call them Superfund sites. Nobody has counted the homes near them.

How to Read This Page

The quotation is the document's own words, exactly as printed, and we check the page number against the Act itself before publishing. The paragraph underneath is our summary, not the document's words. So is the plain English version, which is why it sits beside the quotation rather than replacing it.
